Arm Pain – Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist

Dr. Lisa Meyers is a leading chiropractor for the treatment of arm pain, including shoulder, elbow and wrist, in South Bend. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Meyers has successfully treated numerous patients with pain resulting from nerve damage and injury.

Damage to nerves running from the base of the neck to the shoulder (brachial plexus) can cause pain and loss of mobility in the shoulder, arm and hand.  Compression of the nerves can be caused by injury, trauma or an inflammatory condition. Dr. Meyers is skilled in identifying conditions that may be causing arm pain, shoulder pain, tingling, numbness or weakness from the shoulder to the hand.

Tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow are other common conditions that causes pain and inflammation around the elbow. Caused by stress on muscles and tendons from repetitive motion such as swinging a racquet or golf club, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow can be effectively treated to relieve elbow pain and swelling and prevent recurrence of the injury.

Wrist pain can result from tendinitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, arthritis, sprains, fractures or other injuries that can be treated with skilled chiropractic care.

Because arm pain can be the result of any number of causes, Dr. Meyers begins with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient to determine the cause of pain. Our in-house X-ray technology may assist in the diagnosis. The course of treatment for arm pain may include chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, deep tissue massage, ultrasound, and electrical muscle stimulation and gentle stretching. Further treatment with therapeutic stretching and exercise rehabilitation may also be recommended.

Dr. Meyers has specialized training in conservative treatment methods for the spine and extremities. Using techniques such as Diversified, Cox Flexion/Distraction, Activator and Thompson, Dr. Meyers performs safe, gentle adjustments that are effective for many conditions.

Treatment for every patient includes one-on-one training and education to ensure they have the knowledge and tools they need to exercise properly and prevent injuries in the future.  With physical therapy and exercise rehab facilities on-site at our center, patients can receive a full range of treatment options at one convenient location.
